We stopped for lunch at a small city park. As we ate our sandwiches I walked out onto this little wooden pier and noticed a small school of minnows idling in a patch of sun near one of the pilings.
I pitched a piece or two of bread crust and was disappointed that they took no notice. A little while later though a swarm of smaller minnows further out in the water had discovered the bread crumbs and nibbled voraciously from below.
Towards the end of our little break the minnows and a few perch attacked a few small pieces in the sunlight where we could readily see them.
I don’t suppose you could exactly call it stopping to smell the roses but it was still a nice relaxing lunch. Good relaxing memories. Our time is what we make of it. It’s nice to be reminded once in a while.
